A felt dress and a felt applique.

I've been working on the new collection today in amongst the drama of real life.

I'm about half way there lol, 13 down, 14 to go. I've been photographing and packing up as I go so hopefully I can get them all listed quickly when I'm finished. Ideally I'd like to have my Vistprint cards and labels by then, but as I ordered them yesterday on the 21 day postage I doubt I'll have them here lol.

Anyway, so todays shop update is a dress that I made for the Charlie and Ze Dress Factory "Free the Felt" Contest. The winners were announced today and alas I did not place in the final 6. I had so much fun making dresses though, so as I made four lol (I couldn't stop!) I thought I would place a couple in the shop.

Here is "Let's Be Friends":

Another update to the shop is this reworked linen trench coat. I didn't like the acorn motif that I made for it so I added this shop bought one and I love it ten times better now! :D

I'm working in London tomorrow, off to visit Jimmy's Farm on Saturday, getting pigs for our own smallholding on Sunday and then working in London again on Monday. So.. if I'm still alive there might be an update on Tuesday (more like Wednesday lol).....Hmm, maybe that Vistaprint order will be here before I finish the collection afterall.

Have a great weekend all.

Lots of love,
Freya and NaughtyPixie.

Story of a dress.

Today's dress has a little story behind it.

On Saturday I was watching our friend's 8 year old daughter while her dad and my hubby worked in the field (preparing to keep piggies yay!).

I had no idea what to do so I said that we would make a dolly dress. She likes dollies of course and Sylvanian Families so we get on well lol she even gives me her old My Little Ponies from time to time.

So I got out my fabric box and we looked through it, I asked her to choose the fabric and trimmings for the dress.
She was a bit shy to make any firm decisions so I would suggest a few and she would pick one. I am glad we went with this cute little bright birdy print.

Then came to the pom pom trim, again Rachael was a bit scared to decide so this time she picked a few she liked and I chose one that matched well. The buttons I think was a mutual decision when sorting through the box.

I really like the end result of this collaboration and have added a little pom pom and extra button to the skirt just for fun.

Modelling is my new girl Brie. She is Simply Guava with an IXtee wig.
She likes baking and is a bit snooty. She's not been here long so I don't know her very well yet, but she will be getting a boggle and a gaze lift, sleep eyes and some pink jelly twiggy twiggy pull rings, maybe with a cupcake charm :D
I can't wait to get some rement for her!!!

Vintage Linen Hankerchiefs.

I have a friend called Helen.
She is a retired School teacher from the isle of Sark in the Channel Islands.
When I first went to her house I was speachless. Her Kitchen is full of craft books, her lounge full of knitting, her sewing room floor to ceiling with fabrics and jars of buttons, her spare room is wall to wall yarn organised and boxed by colour, the hall way has a dress mannequin draped with bags, even her husband's office has boxes of dolls stacked high.

I first met Helen at a craft fair where I had a stall. She bought a few of my things and I liked her.
Later on she gave me a call and offered me some vintage hand made underwear, camisoles and petticoats, that sort of thing, which was the reason for visiting her house.
I felt like I had met my future self.

So anyway, these Vintage hankerchiefs are a gift from Helen and I love them. I have given in to my hoarding tendancies and if it means I have a house full like hers then so be it, I'll love it!!!
SHOP UPDATE!

Today's dress was a bit of an experiment, I'm not sure

about it.
I had lost my mojo yesterday and couldn't do anything right, I wrote numbers in the words part when writing a cheque, I spilt soup everywhere when making tea, chipped a cup washing up and wrote £ for weight and vice versa when filling out customs forms at the post office.
So today is monday, OK!!!
Lots of love,
Freya and NaughtyPixie.

Today's car boot finds

I am mad on car boot sales.
I collect just about every toy from the 80's and go mad at car boot sales.
My house is next door to a car boot sale (that is one reason we bought it, that and walking distance from a pub lol.)
I even joke that we bought the house at a carboot sale because we saw the sale bought after being at that car boot.

So £1.35 later and this is what I came home with today for my girls :D Take a look at my flickr for the 80's toy goodness I found.

Last week I got a bath and a side table thing for them (also see Flickr). I am really looking for a house now, I still cringe when I think of the vintage Sindy one for £5 that I turned down last year :*( because of Space. If only I had Blythe then.

Today's shop updated.

Fabric for Friday! Etsy update & New collection teaser.

I am addicted to Fabric.

These are my latest buys, about two weeks ago. A trip to my favourite fabric shop is a real outing. It's in a garden centre and they have a lovely cafe, gift shop and a dolls house shop (loads more but I don't visit the others lol)

Sew Simple is like Hobbycraft but independant. It's VAST! :D

They have a massive quilting supplies section and whoever orders their fabric has great taste. There's more than your average stuffy granny quilting fabric here.

I've even found cute Japanese import printed linen there :D

I give myself a limit of four fat quarters each visit (I've spent £45 in one go in the past, luckily they have a reward card LOL) and I really relish wandering around taking my time choosing. I'll put anything that catches my eye in my basket and then I will cut them down to the last four choices.

I am so chuffed with the froggy canvas there, it's more of a heavy weave like a linen or soft canvas and great for this little raincoat I made for NaughtyPixie.

I really want some froggy rement boots now!!!

Today's Etsy update.

BUTTONS! Linen and cotton vintage style dress with mother of Pearl and vintage buttons.

NEW COLLECTION!

At the moment I am posting one dress a day to Etsy, but in the background I am working on a new collection to list together at once. Hopefully my supplies will arrive soon and I will be able to finish but in the mean time here is a teaser photo to give you an idea of things to come.

I told you it was just a little tease, you'll have to wait to see more.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, I hope to spend it gardening.
Love,
Freya and NaughtyPixie.

Shabby Chic, vintage style Teacup dress.

I love a bit of Shab by Chic I do.
I could just EAT gorgeous linens cottons and prints!!
If only I could pull of the chic myself a bit more often than the shabby.

Anyway, here is today's creation. I had a bit of random lace left over to added it underneath the button to make a little corsage, cute :D

OLD!! :D

I'm on a revamping mission this week.

Pom pom addition to an old dress, again I thought it needed something and new photographs.

Working on more dresses for a collection to update my shop in one go! I'm really pleased so far. I'm trying to develop a style that hasn't been done too much. I hope I have achieved it. You can be sure it'll be a bit shabby chic lol, I'm getting sick of myself saying that now.

Tomorrow I will try not to spam you to death with dress sales stuff lol.

New! Mini Mod Moped...er...dress. Old! Felt Squirrel addition.

Today's dress is the Mini Mod Moped dress.
My husband Rob chose this fabric when we were shopping a month or so ago. It wasn't my fave at the time but think it has a certain charm and certainly suits this mod style shift dress.

Pixie's hair cut and go go wellies add a certain something to the look too :D

I also made an addition to one of the dresses already in the shop today. This Linen Forest Frock has been there a while so I added this cute Squirrel, I love it :D

It's such a lovely day, I have big French doors in my workroom and the sun is streaming in. Very inspiring so I am working on a new collection :D Four down, a gazillion to go lol.

Lots of love,
Freya and NaughtyPixie

Linen and Lace

Here is today's dress :D

I should join a dolly dress a day on Flickr but I'd never keep up with the pressure lol.

I love working in Linens and cottons and natural materials, I think they do the hard work for you and just look chic on their own.

I love pattern too of course.

I'm going to add this to my Etsy in two seconds :D

It's a beautiful day today I hope everyone is well.

The world of NaughtyPixie

Hi and welcome to my new Blog.

I have been making and selling handmade clothes for Blythe for a few months now and decided to start a blog to let everyone know about new stock and the goings on in the Pixie sweatshop ….er…sewing studio.

Back in November I bought a CCE fake Blythe doll, I called her NaughtyPixie and instantly fell in love with but longed for a real Blythe girl of my own. I got Pixie first because of the price of Blythe and was worried about liking her enough.

So I managed to persuede my long suffering husband that I should have a Blythe for Christmas so along came Forest

I will put a seperate page up with details of the girls later

So it’s April now and I’d been having Blythe cravings lol, I secretly bid on a blonde ADG but lost out. My friend Robin offered me her bald Guava at a price I couldn’t refuse, so now I have 3 (sort of).

Poor Guava doesn’t have a name yet, I just call her baldy, her hair is on the way and I’m hoping a name will appear when she puts it on. She’s got a big Blythe ‘tude!!!

Oops, what about me?

I’m Freya. In the online Blythe community I’m go by NaughtyPixie.

Tweet me up Blythe peeps @Forest_Blythe

I am a costume maker and Wardrobe mistress for Theatre and historical reenactment. So I thought I would have a go at making clothes for Blythe.

Here is my etsy shop:
www.NaughtyPixie.Etsy.com

When I am not collecting and crafting for Blythe I am making costumes for humans as “Freya Pointer Costumier”. For a little about me and my background take a look at my website (and un updated blog eeep!) www.FreyaPointer.co.uk

I am also an avid collector of My Little Ponies (this is why my husband is suffering lol). In the My Little Pony online community I am known as GypsyWildFlower.
You can find me at the UK PONYCON forum where I am a moderator and long standing staff member. www.ukponycon.co.uk

Check it out and if you are in the UK try and come along in October.

I have just opened another etsy store for custom My Little Pony accessories:

www.Gypsywildflower.etsy.com

I make custom replacement My Little Pony accessories, mainly Flutter wings and Big Brother Bandanas. Soon I will be adding Princess Wands and So Soft stands to the collection so keep your eyes peeled!

I have a Flickr group for more photos.

If you already own one of my customs or repro accessories why don’t you join up and share your photos, I love customer photos
