Blythe Kingdom sewing challenge.

So I thought I had my mojo bank in March?
Lol turns out I didn't, I started making a dress with the fabric I bought and it still sits here unfinished.

I have made a couple of things over the last few weeks and uploaded them to my shop.

Due to work circumstances and attempting to change career I have more time on my hands to spend with my dolls and make Blythe clothes.

I signed in to Blythe Kingdom for the first time in ages (there is probably a new forum now lol) and discovered the sewing challenge with monthly tasks :) I thought it was just what I needed to get back into stitching again.

So here is my interpretation of the October challenge Cat hoodie pattern.
I had trouble with the hood pattern provided so just used my own that I made for my coats. It means that the ears go in at a different place but I think it's ok.

Catching up!

After my little outburst in the last post I am slowly catching up.

I finished my friends Birthday present:

It's a Blythe version of a real life 1960's chair that is her pride and joy. I sprayed a Bratz chair and made a little cushion for it.

We had a lovely time at Center Parcs, I took the girls along, this is what Mervin wore:

I cancelled my stall at the craft fair as I've got so stressed out about it and there is no way I would make enough stuff for 2 days of the fair.

I've made a great start on my Morticia Addams costume for the amateur dramatics christmas show. I've also managed to borrow a lot of stuff for my hubby to wear. We've added lots of extra rehearsals days so that will be fine.

I rearranged my work day before I had cancelled the craft fair, so now I can get on with my costume, Blythe commissions and get ready to go away next week.

I've made a good start on my Blythe commissions. Although last week I had a disaster. I had cut out and half sewn 3 coats. I finished the first one and found that I had added seam allowance onto the pattern that already had seam allowance (that's what I get for not labelling my patterns). So I threw them all away and started again.

Every cloud has a silver lining because I made a new pattern and it works a lot better than the last :D

So at last I've finished one commission!

And in true procrastination style I started my little applique project that I mentioned ages ago.

I started it yesterday before I cancelled the craft fair so should have been working my butt off making stuff to sell.....but no, I start a new project lol.

Can you guess what it is yet?

I'm hoping to start swimming again this week and maybe actually clean my house.

NEW COLLECTION! "Stitched by Pixies" In shop now!

STITCHED BY PIXIES.

Here is my current collection "Stitched by Pixies".
This collection was inspired by the fabric used for my banner, I love the natural background and the contrasting red stitches.
The whole collection is red with a sewing theme detailed with matching pom pom trim and beautiful woven and printed cotton tape and ribbons. Of course there is plenty of linen and combinations of calico.
I took this Collection to Blythecon and the remaining dresses are now in my Etsy shop :D
I hope you like it.

Finally finished! And a car boot find :D

I have finally finished that blasted "Ornithology" collection I started months ago.

I had planned to list them all at once but I was so SLOW I've sold half of them already.

With Blythecon UK approaching and the need for stall stock, not to mention the fact that I had started and just about finished another collection entirely, I thought it was about time I finished.

So, 27 dresses later (27!! what was I thinking?) here it is! I was so inspired and proud of this collection when I started and one or two of them I think work really well. The next collection "Stitched by Pixies" is only 18 dresses and much more varied design wise so it's kept me inspired and interested all the way through. Incidentally, lol that collection was finished at the same time lol. A lot of these are sold already but the rest will be at Blythecon UK and the remainder will be back on Etsy, possibly in a sale.

CAR BOOT FIND!

I picked up this cute little locker for 50p on saturday. I didn't even pause to think if I wanted it or not at that price. It's real metal but none of my girls are into pink (yet).

I thought someone in the community might like it or perhaps I could paint it.

BUT! I decided it would make a PERFECT toy cupboard :D

One day I want a dolls house, I've been getting inspired looking through Flickr and browsing ebay for Sindy houses. One day.

Blythe shopping directory blog feature.

I came home from the work tour to find a message on Etsy asking to use one of my photos on a blog feature.
The Blythe Shopping Directory regularly features and reviews sellers and crafters of Blythe goodies. This month they are focusing on Blythecon UK and posting about the stallholders that will be attending.

I was very honoured to see a lovely little piece about NaughtyPixie :D

I gave NaughtyPixie's hair another trim to level off the fringe a bit. It could probably do with a little more.

Her new Licca Body arrived yesterday and I love it! :D She also loves her new Blythecon Tshirt that arrived yesterday too!

I had better get started on another dress! I spent the whole day yesterday (after the obligatory car boot sales) mowing the lawn in the garden, still a lot of weeding to do.

Love,

Freya and the Pixies.

Another day another dress.

I promise, only six more bird theme dresses to go.
I'm getting sick of them.
My next collection will be 18 dresses or less, what was I thinking doing 27!!

Ornithology Collection - New Collection Listed

I was just browsing on Etsy and saw a dress with a similar theme to my Ornithology Collection that I have been working on for weeks.
I thought I would list what I have finished now as I would hate to be accused of copying.

So check 'em out they are listed in my shop now!

Vintage Linen Hankerchiefs.

I have a friend called Helen.
She is a retired School teacher from the isle of Sark in the Channel Islands.
When I first went to her house I was speachless. Her Kitchen is full of craft books, her lounge full of knitting, her sewing room floor to ceiling with fabrics and jars of buttons, her spare room is wall to wall yarn organised and boxed by colour, the hall way has a dress mannequin draped with bags, even her husband's office has boxes of dolls stacked high.

I first met Helen at a craft fair where I had a stall. She bought a few of my things and I liked her.
Later on she gave me a call and offered me some vintage hand made underwear, camisoles and petticoats, that sort of thing, which was the reason for visiting her house.
I felt like I had met my future self.

So anyway, these Vintage hankerchiefs are a gift from Helen and I love them. I have given in to my hoarding tendancies and if it means I have a house full like hers then so be it, I'll love it!!!
SHOP UPDATE!

Today's dress was a bit of an experiment, I'm not sure

about it.
I had lost my mojo yesterday and couldn't do anything right, I wrote numbers in the words part when writing a cheque, I spilt soup everywhere when making tea, chipped a cup washing up and wrote £ for weight and vice versa when filling out customs forms at the post office.
So today is monday, OK!!!
Lots of love,
Freya and NaughtyPixie.

Today's car boot finds

I am mad on car boot sales.
I collect just about every toy from the 80's and go mad at car boot sales.
My house is next door to a car boot sale (that is one reason we bought it, that and walking distance from a pub lol.)
I even joke that we bought the house at a carboot sale because we saw the sale bought after being at that car boot.

So £1.35 later and this is what I came home with today for my girls :D Take a look at my flickr for the 80's toy goodness I found.

Last week I got a bath and a side table thing for them (also see Flickr). I am really looking for a house now, I still cringe when I think of the vintage Sindy one for £5 that I turned down last year :*( because of Space. If only I had Blythe then.

Today's shop updated.

Fabric for Friday! Etsy update & New collection teaser.

I am addicted to Fabric.

These are my latest buys, about two weeks ago. A trip to my favourite fabric shop is a real outing. It's in a garden centre and they have a lovely cafe, gift shop and a dolls house shop (loads more but I don't visit the others lol)

Sew Simple is like Hobbycraft but independant. It's VAST! :D

They have a massive quilting supplies section and whoever orders their fabric has great taste. There's more than your average stuffy granny quilting fabric here.

I've even found cute Japanese import printed linen there :D

I give myself a limit of four fat quarters each visit (I've spent £45 in one go in the past, luckily they have a reward card LOL) and I really relish wandering around taking my time choosing. I'll put anything that catches my eye in my basket and then I will cut them down to the last four choices.

I am so chuffed with the froggy canvas there, it's more of a heavy weave like a linen or soft canvas and great for this little raincoat I made for NaughtyPixie.

I really want some froggy rement boots now!!!

Today's Etsy update.

BUTTONS! Linen and cotton vintage style dress with mother of Pearl and vintage buttons.

NEW COLLECTION!

At the moment I am posting one dress a day to Etsy, but in the background I am working on a new collection to list together at once. Hopefully my supplies will arrive soon and I will be able to finish but in the mean time here is a teaser photo to give you an idea of things to come.

I told you it was just a little tease, you'll have to wait to see more.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, I hope to spend it gardening.
Love,
Freya and NaughtyPixie.

Shabby Chic, vintage style Teacup dress.

I love a bit of Shab by Chic I do.
I could just EAT gorgeous linens cottons and prints!!
If only I could pull of the chic myself a bit more often than the shabby.

Anyway, here is today's creation. I had a bit of random lace left over to added it underneath the button to make a little corsage, cute :D

OLD!! :D

I'm on a revamping mission this week.

Pom pom addition to an old dress, again I thought it needed something and new photographs.

Working on more dresses for a collection to update my shop in one go! I'm really pleased so far. I'm trying to develop a style that hasn't been done too much. I hope I have achieved it. You can be sure it'll be a bit shabby chic lol, I'm getting sick of myself saying that now.

Tomorrow I will try not to spam you to death with dress sales stuff lol.

New! Mini Mod Moped...er...dress. Old! Felt Squirrel addition.

Today's dress is the Mini Mod Moped dress.
My husband Rob chose this fabric when we were shopping a month or so ago. It wasn't my fave at the time but think it has a certain charm and certainly suits this mod style shift dress.

Pixie's hair cut and go go wellies add a certain something to the look too :D

I also made an addition to one of the dresses already in the shop today. This Linen Forest Frock has been there a while so I added this cute Squirrel, I love it :D

It's such a lovely day, I have big French doors in my workroom and the sun is streaming in. Very inspiring so I am working on a new collection :D Four down, a gazillion to go lol.

Lots of love,
Freya and NaughtyPixie

Linen and Lace

Here is today's dress :D

I should join a dolly dress a day on Flickr but I'd never keep up with the pressure lol.

I love working in Linens and cottons and natural materials, I think they do the hard work for you and just look chic on their own.

I love pattern too of course.

I'm going to add this to my Etsy in two seconds :D

It's a beautiful day today I hope everyone is well.
